Gas distribution

The delivery of gas from the transmission network to individual end users via (normally) low pressure pipelines. See also Gas transmission.

Gas production

The process of extracting gas from natural gas fields or coal seams and processing it to remove impurities prior to injecting into the gas grid for ultimate delivery to end users.

Gas shipper

A gas shipper is a party that contracts with gas pipeline owners to transport gas through the gas network from a producer to a supply point. A shipper would normally be an energy retailer or large end user.

Gas transmission

The bulk transport of gas via high pressure pipelines.

Gentailers

A generic terms for entities that own and operate major electricity generating facilities and are active in the retail market.

GJ

Gigajoule (109 Joules).

Gross pool market

An electricity trading arrangement used in the National Electricity Market where generators are required to sell all of the energy they produce. A gross pool market differs from a net pool market, such as the Western Australian Wholesale Electricity Market, where generators only sell energy that they have not already sold through bilateral contracts. Grosse lease

A lease in which the tenant pays a flat sum for rent out of which the landlord must pay all expenses, including energy.
